What does New York require of your registered agent?
The rule
Governing statute: NY LLC Law § 301 (Secretary of State as agent) and § 302 (registered agent)
The Department of State is the mandatory statutory agent for every NY LLC; you may additionally designate a private registered agent with a physical New York street address, which is optional but advised.
A private registered agent must be available at that New York address during normal business hours to accept service of process.
